Pogba ‘complained to Mourinho about his tactics’ after Saints draw

Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba’s feud was reignited in the aftermath of Manchester United‘s 2-2 draw at Southampton on Saturday night.

Pogba was slated by Mourinho in the away dressing room at St Mary’s for being reckless in possession and, it was reported over the weekend, labelled him ‘a vrius’.

The France midfielder, according to The Times, claimed Mourinho’s tactics are shackling the squad and added he had nobody to pass to in front of him because players did not have freedom to move.

United fought back from 2-0 down to claim a draw against Southampton but they are already eight points off the Champions League places.

Mourinho said after the match that his players were trying too hard to create chances in pursuit of victory over Southampton.

‘We lost so many balls in midfield, that was difficult to have that continuity,’ Mourinho said.

‘In the second half we went back to that dynamic where we lost too many balls in midfield, when the players don’t understand that simplicity is genius.’

The United boss also said that they are chasing a miracle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Speaking to Brazilian outlet RedeTV at St Mary’s, Mourinho said: ‘Last year, we said that getting in 2nd place was a fantastic thing due to the qualities we had compared to the qualities of the other teams fighting for the top four.’

Referring to his ambitions for the rest of the campaign, he said: ‘Try to win as many points as possible and try almost the miracle to end in fourth.’

United are back in Premier League action on Wednesday night against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
